Für die zweite CD bei NCA wählte das südkalifornische Barockensemble Musica Angelica vier Konzerte von einem der einflussreichsten deutschen Komponisten des 18. Jahrhunderts: Georg Philipp Telemann.
Der Begründer des Hamburger Konzertlebens und Vertreter des „vermischten“ Stils war zu Lebzeiten hochgeschätzt und berühmt. Telemann bediente alle Musikgattungen der Zeit, mochte anfangs jedoch Konzerte nicht so gerne. Und schrieb trotzdem welche, lernte sie lieben und tüftelte ganz besondere Instrumentekombinationen aus – immer bestrebt, harmonische Klänge und Stimmungen zu erreichen.
Besonders herausragend sind die Konzerte D-Dur und E-Dur für Flöte, Oboe d’amore und Viola d’amore, die selbstverständlich auf dieser CD zu hören sind.

Musica Angelica, the Baroque ensemble from Southern California, chose four concertos by one of the most influential 18th century German composers for the second CD release on NCA: Georg Philipp Telemann.
During his day Telemann, who initiated the Hamburg concert scene and who was an
exponent of the so-called “mixed“ style, was famous and held in high esteem. Telemann
availed himself of all the music genres of his day but was not such an advocate of concertos at first – he still wrote such works however and grew to love the genre,
particularly enjoying experimentation with unusual combinations of instruments while
still trying to achieve harmonious sounds and moods.
The concertos in D major and E major for flute, oboe d’amore and viola d’amore are particularly outstanding and it goes without saying that both works are to be heard
on this CD release.
Enjoy some of the finest early music, performed by one of the USA’s leading Baroque
ensembles and conducted by the Austrian conductor and organist Martin Haselböck.
